Welcome to the FOSPP official website!
Hello! We are the newly-formed Friends of Seger Park Playground, a group of neighbors like you, who have come together with an ambitious goal: To give our beloved Seger Park playground, at 10th and Lombard Streets, a badly-needed facelift.
If you have visited the playground lately, then you have probably noticed the peeling paint, the corroding metal, and the rubberized ground cover that is beginning to feel more like cement. We are now in the process of rethinking the entire playground space, coming up with large-scale improvements including a new playground layout, a refurbished water park, brand new equipment for both younger and older children, and possibly more green space and additional seating.
The enthusiasm we have encountered from the community so far has been thrilling. In addition to grassroots support from Wash West neighbors, we are pleased to have the support of the Washington Square West Civic Association, the Philadelphia Department of Recreation, the Seger Park Advisory Council, and the Washington Square West Trust.
We have also been working closely with the Center City District’s planning folks who have generously helped us draft some preliminary plans and a budget. And we recently installed our first board of directors: co-presidents Sabrina Rubin Erdely and Sharri Horowitz; VP of Communications Bonnie Pasternack; VP of Finance Laura Sepe; VPs of Fundraising Joyce Killian and Tami Levin; VP of Grants Nancy Pace; and VP of Planning & Maintenance James Loughead. Together with our enthusiastic crew of volunteers, we hope to fast-track our ideas into action. We anticipate beginning our renovations within the next three years.
