Education and cultural develpment are important aspects of any thriving community. In fact we believe a community's quality of life is greatly reflective of its commitment to the quality of educational opportunities it provides its children and families.
The Anthony L. Pollard Foundation was initially established in 1999 to assist deserving high school students who desired to attend college, but did not have the financial means. Since the establishemnt of the Rainbow Dreams Scholarships Fund, we have expanded our mission beyond post-secondary scholarships and have purposed "to strength and support historically underserved communities through educational and cultural programs and services."
These programs and services include: an after-school and summer tutoring program at Kit Carson Elementary School; the annual cultural celebration known as the Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival; and the Home Computer Program, a program that refurbishes used computors and places them with families who otherwise could not afford to have computer technology in their homes.
Our largest project to date is the construction and development of Rainbow Dreams Academy, apublic charter school sponsored by the Clark County school District and scheduled to open in the fall of 2007 in historic West Las Vegas. This effort and others are highlighted in this strategic document, which offers a look at how our organization has developed and more importantly, where it is headed.
