I seem to remember seeing something about schedule for the day. I seem to have misplaced it. What time do we report to the park?

My question is: how can we continue, having started off with an amazing Design Day, to involve the local community. After all, it's their playground. What actions can we take to reach out to people and get them excited if they aren't already?

I live just two blocks from this park. I have long wondered its use. It was just a green patch with a mural. I am excited to see an actual park being built. I think we, the members who have joined the project should meet up and walk the surrounding neighborhood. Perhaps even talk to influencers in the community like nearby churches, and the YMCA. Or even talk to the buena park high school. THey have an Agricultural department, perhaps that club can have a few teens volunteer?

Oh and by the way I have four children that would love to have a park so close by.

Join us as we team up to build a playground for the children at Olive Park. We are seeking 75 additional volunteers who do not have to be skilled, trained or have any special tools; they just have to enthusiastic, energetic, a team player, willing to work, and have fun, fun, fun! (And be at least 18 years of age).
Join us as an individual or come with an entire team. We are looking for 75 additional volunteers for this project, and everyone must be pre-registered.
Arrive at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast and stay until project completion time at 3:00 p.m. We’ll provide lunch, beverages, music, along with an opening and special closing ceremony at 3:00 p.m. The build will happen rain or shine.
Build captains and site preparers are also needed!
• Skilled builders are invited to become Build Captains to take on a leadership role on Thursday, November 12, 2009. Captains are asked to attend a 45-minute orientation on Prep Day, Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
• All are welcome to help prepare the playground site on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.

The City of Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the KaBOOM! organization and the Home Depot, is planning a new playground space in Olive Park (901 S. Gilbert St. @ W. Olive Ave.). KaBOOM! is a national non-profit organization that helps local communities build playgrounds.
A KaBOOM! playground is ‘built’ in one day by the community. On that one day, neighbors and community volunteers will come together and install a brand new play structure along with some additional landscaping, some painting and do some general ‘sprucing-up’ of the park. The Community Build Day for Olive Park is Thursday, November 12, 2009. The play structure will be located at the west end of the park, adjacent to the existing walkway. The existing open turf area to the east will remain untouched.
As always, we highly encourage your participation and look forward to receiving your feedback. If you would like to sign up to be a volunteer on Build Day, please contact Paul Dominguez at (714) 738-2878
