I want to thank everyone who helped during our Playground Build day and wood chip spreading day! The playground is amazing and we could not have done it without such a dedicated group of volunteers! We are now raising funds for the Playweb. Hopefully we will be able to install it by next summer.

Congratulations, Stacey! I know that you've been working hard to lead this fundraising process, and have obviously done a fantastic job mobilizing your entire school community behind this project!

It looks fantastic! I think a revamp in the KaBOOM! Playspace Finder is in order, because that's certainly not a 3-star safety hazard anymore. Glad to hear that your Play Day went well, too! Way to sock it to the weather and vandals. The Kenmore community is truly inspiring!

The Playground Improvement team has made great progress to date. We started with a risk management report to identify safety concerns. We then did extensive surveys of the students and staff to determine what they would like in a playground. Designs and bids were obtained from various companies. Additional discounts on playground equipment were negotiated. We selected a design and bid from Northwest Playground Equipment, which has been approved by the school and district. Our first successful school fund raiser was held. Many projects have been completed on our path to a new playground. The cord entanglement hazard on the embankment slide has been soldered, S-hooks on the swings have been closed, and bent turning bars and balance beam bars have been replaced. Two sets of unsafe metal rings have been removed. The dumpsters and storage container have been moved out of the playground area. The lawn under the storage container has been restored and the dumpsters have been repainted. Local Eagle Scouts have worked with the committee and community to build up the hill under the embankment slide and paint our metal boat, train, and monkey bars. Please see the before and after photos to see how amazing their work looks!
