Getting a site for the park is going to be a long process, and honestly one that I'm not looking forward to undergoing.
Our dream site is located on NW 25th St and Walker Ave. This is a huge empty and rundown lot located in the middle of the Paseo (within walking distance of every house in the neighborhood!). All of the other lots we've looked at are situated in a more secluded, more "tucked away" area, that we don't feel is ideal for a crime-ridden neighborhood.
When we called to ask about leasing or owning the land on Walker, the owner (who lives in Vegas and who has never been to Oklahoma City before) said she would be thrilled if we built a park on her land. Initially, she offered the land to us to buy for a super cheap price, but didn't give us a leasing option. Then she came back later and told us that she'd like us to buy 5 more of her lots (so that all the lots could be sold together) or none of them. And instead of the first price she'd mentioned, she is now asking for $135,000. Which is unbelievably out of our price range.
So, the search continues for another lot. Or for $135,000.
Kaboom never ceases to amaze me.
Our team is in the process of writing a ton of grants and organizing and planning and then here is KaBoom with it's wealth of knowledge and resources.
Here is a list of all of the wonderful things that our team will be utilizing from the KaBoom toolkit in the coming weeks:
- Green building research- We love and have fantisized about the idea of an environmentally friendly park, so this is an extremely exciting resource that I can't wait to research more. Plus, teaching the kids in the neighborhood about sustainability and the earth is very appealing.
- Soils checks and utilites- Man, oh man. First, I hadn't fit soils checks into the park equation before I read the toolkit, so I'm glad to add that to the ol' to-do list. And utilites- even thinking about it gives me a headache, but at least this list gives me a better idea of what needs to be done.
Even though these things seem so far away, I'm thankful for the insight and experience of KaBoom.

Hey all!
Welcome to the park's website!
How exciting is it that someday the kiddos that live in the Paseo will have a park of their very own?! They will play and swing and create and imagine in the 625. They will laugh and dance and run in a safe place where they can be kids. They will delight and sing and through them the Lord will be glorified!
Paseo 625 is in the early stages of development. Right now we are looking for a lot of help in finding grants and funding, writing grants, and gaining backing in the Paseo. Progress isn't going to happen if we don't have funding and people fueling us. If you're interested in getting involved in the park, let us know. We are open to suggestions, ideas, visions, prophetic words.. basically anything you can offer.
In the next months, please be calling out for the Lord to continue moving in the Paseo and in for progress of the park to happen. Our inspiration, our drive for this is from the Lord. Together we don't possess enough creativity, resourcefulness, or energy to build a park, but He is our helper and this is His idea, not ours.
We love you all!
