We have great news! Over the last few months, we have raised over $45,000 and are now ready to get moving on our community build. We have ordered the equipment and are planning for an installation at the end of January.
Both our site location and our vendors have to be approved by the El Paso Independent School District. We have requested a slight change to the site location they offered in order to move the playground a little further from classrooms and are awaiting a response. We have contacted several vendors who are EPISD-approved, and at least three of whom are Kaboom! preferred. The vendors are preparing proposals based on some basic equipment criteria we provided. We're hoping to review and request changes to finalize proposals over the next few weeks.

The students of M.J. Lundy Elementary will soon be moving into a new school built to alleviate overcrowding at both Polk and Tippin Elementary schools. However, the school is being built without a playground structure for the students in grades 2nd - 5th. These children are too young to not have a playground. Other than playing on the blacktop and an empty soccer field, there will be nothing to do. We are trying hard to raise the money needed to install a playground structure, with a hopeful date of next October. Please help us to reach this goal!!
With months of planning, fundraising and meetings behind us, it is time to really get this project rolling!! Our meetings with vendors are going well, we have someone to head up corporate and civic fundraising, and we are beginning our grant applications. Not only that, but we have two great videos produced by one of our parents, Marcela Riano. Our PTA is planning a huge Open House fundraiser, so we need to reach out to all of our Lundy families and El Paso businesses to make this dream a reality! Together, we are building a strong foundation for our children's education.

Our tile fundraiser is underway. Project partner "At the Clayground" has allowed us to start painting 6" x 6" tiles. Our plan is to have a painting event at the Open House, but you can paint yours sooner at "At the Clayground". Email us at mjlundypta@gmail.com to order your tiles today. Tiles are $40 for one, $70 for two or $90 for three. Tiles will be installed in the school.
