Does anyone have any great ideas for intergenerational components that can be integrated into playspaces? If you have any links to any spaces that are great for all ages, I would love to see them. Please pass them along!

I saw a cool playspace design lately that had "circuit" exercise equipment surrounding a playground. So as the kids play the parents/guardians can watch the kids while they're exercising.

Have you considered integrating benches, artwork, flower boxes, and picnic tables into your space? I just worked on a playground installation that included numerous side projects that will attract families and community members to our site. The picnic tables included painted game tops - - perfect for chess and checkers players of all ages. The flower boxes are great for school-aged children as well as older gardeners. All of these components will help to ensure your play space is actively used by all members of your community.

Good advice kimmarren! Check out this article from 2008 called Playtime for Grandma: Council opens new playground for the over-60s.

Check out this 'fact sheet' about Inter-generational play.... http://www.gu.org/documents/A0/PlayIsForever_FactSheet.pdf Kim, I am very happy to inform you that KaBOOM! does try to create holistic and family friendly spaces with every project. Murals, gardens, benches, and games board table tops are as common on a KaBOOM! playground as a slide, swings, or see saw!

The botanical gardens in Atlanta have swinging benches that are very popular with all ages. They are elevated to give a great view.
