Hi tinpot,
The first thing that you should do is take a look around the KaBOOM! website. There are a ton of communities that are in the same position and lots of your questions may have been answered on our forums.

continued from above:
The second thing that you should/need to do is get a committee together. Find others that are passionate about building a playscape with you and are excited about making it happen. It's crucial that you have a good committee from the start. You can have your committee member break up to help you cover different tasks for your build day(s).

After you get your committee together, check out our project planner at http://projects.kaboom.org/projects/new. This will be a useful tool to help guide you through your project and will help you connect with other communities that have completed or are working on the same task as you and your committee.

Another great tool is to check out the upcoming and archived webinars (or online seminars) that we are currently hosting on our website (www.kaboom.org/webinars). These may be able to help answer some of your questions as well.
Don't forget to keep in touch and let us know how things are going! Hope these tools are helpful!

Hi there tinpot! I have a couple more suggestions for you... "jackson_c" was absolutely correct when (s)he said KaBOOM!'s website has many tools to offer. A prime example of this is our Toolkit, which can be found at "www.kaboom.org/toolkit".

Also, if you do not feel like you have the resources to build a brand new playspace in the time frame that you are shooting for, consider refurbishing one in your area. Search for playspaces in your neighborhood that have low ratings on our KaBOOM! Playspace Finder (playspacefinder.kaboom.org).

Hi tinpot! Just to piggyback on one resource that Kenny mentioned: on the KaBOOM! Playspace Finder when you look for playspaces in your neighborhood, you can look at the amenities offered locally and if there are items that you're interested in doing yourself, go check them out in person! Can't wait to hear how your project progresses!
