Hi there and welcome to the Oxford School playground project website. Oxford School is a one hundred year old school in the centre of Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is a school with students from grade primary to grade nine, with French Immersion students from grades seven to nine. The school is located in the heart of an older, established neighbourhood. A few minutes walk from the school is the busy and vibrant retail street of Quinpool Road.
A group of parents from Oxford School have banded together to raise money to build a new playground on the grounds of Oxford School. This playground will be used by the elementary students of the school, grades primary to six, as well as by the many children that live in the neighbourhoods surrounding the school. We want to build a safe playground that promotes health, fitness, recreation and fun, for both students at Oxford School and children in the community around the school.
We will undertake this project in partnership with the Halifax Regional Municipality, who will oversee many aspects of this project. The role of the parents is to ensure that all funds are raised to pay for the new play structure.
