Welcome to the Maple Avenue Park Renovation Project
Build Date: 06/01/2008
Welcome to the home page of the Maple Avenue Park Renovation Project. Recently, due to the condition of the aging park play structures and what was thought to be a lack of use, Ross Township removed all amenities from this park. Then, started by Ross Township Commissioner, David Mikec and his family, community meeting where held and survey were distributed. The community spoke loud with their response at the community meetings and the results from the survey that this park is important to them. So started the efforts of Commissioner Mikec and the Ross Township Parks & Recreation Department to renovate and rebuild this park into an asset for the local community with new playground equipment and park facilities.
Commissioner Mikec applied and was awarded a $20,000 grant and the Parks & Recreation Department applied for and was awarded a $10,000 grant from KaBOOM! and the Grable Foundation. This met our project goal of $30,000. We also had several local residents volunteer to help build and complete this project but we are still encouraging more to volunteer. People can volunteer by calling Pete Geis in the Ross Township Parks & Recreation Department at (412) 931-7055 x.233. We are planning on building this new program in the Spring of 2008.
Come back often to check on our progress, and learn how you can volunteer to help us make the kids' dream a reality.
