Jones re-opened its doors in brand new building in January '‘04 as a project Grad School with "“four walls and the future inside"”.  The only thing we were missing was a safe out side place space for for our children to enjoy.  KaBOOM! and SAP America, Inc. banded  together with a plan that would help provide a great and safe play space for our children and bring the entire community into our school for many years to come.

 The plans for our play space will also include an outdoor science center, a gathering place for the community and expanded opportunities for the addition of interactive art.

 The formal process began in August when our proposal was selected and we were paired with our funding partner, SAP America, Inc.

 Design Day, (August 19, 2008), brought together some of the most creative minds in the world (our students, funding partner, business and community leaders and KaBoom! staffers) to design and plan the actual play area and side projects.  It was hard to tell which group was having the most fun.  The adults got a chance to revisit childhood memories and the children got a chance to have their dreams come true.

While fundraising is a major task (with most of the families in our community at or below the poverty line), we decided to start small and work our way up.  We began with “pennies week” where our students brought in over 60,000 pennies.  We are planning “nickels and dimes week”,  “quarters week”,  “dollars week” and a “anything over a dollar week”.  Each family and staff member has been asked to make a donation.  We have also been seeking donations from businesses in the community and our educational partners.
