The Mission:
Hailey's Wish is committed to bringing joy to the lives of children with disabilities by building and promoting accessible and inclusive community playgrounds. By funding accessible play areas, Hailey's Wish will encourage participation and socialization for children with disabilities that will in turn foster their growth and development.
The Need:
Children with disabilities are too often left along the sidelines at community playgrounds while their siblings and friends participate in a multitude of carefree playful activities. With some thought and initiative, playgrounds have been designed to allow all children, even those with the most severe disabilities, the opportunity to play, socialize, learn, and develop their skills in a community environment.
The Current Project:
Hailey's Wish is fundraising to provide financial support for the development of a new accessible community playground that will be located at Carroll Springs School, a special education school in Westminster Maryland. This playground will include activities for children of all ages and abilities. It will include accessiblility by ramps spanning the entire length of the playground, high-back supportive swings, activity boards accessible in a sitting or standing position and ADA approved ground cover.
