As many of you know, our little park has been in desperate need of a face-lift.  It has been many, many years since the park has had any improvements, let alone new play equipment.  Well, that era is coming to an end.  On Saturday, May 31, 2008, the Fairview Little Park will get that long-overdue face lift.

 

Thanks to KaBOOM! and The Home Depot, Fairview, Illinois, was awarded a grant that has given us the opportunity to improve our park, and build community development and participation.  We also owe credit to all donating businesses and organizations in the Fairview community.

With their generous donations and this grant, we were able to purchase three new pieces of play equipment, and start paving the way for continuous improvement each year.  This great opportunity will start an ongoing effort to develop Fairview into a community where people want to move and raise their children.

On May 31, 2008, we will be installing the new equipment and fixing the old.  We will be installing a new swing set for toddlers, while replacing the old swings for the older kids.  We will have a new play structure with multiple slides, and activities, for ages 2-12.  We also have a climbing arch structure.  New certified mulch surfacing will be spread around the play equipment, old equipment will be fixed and painted, and we will accomplish this together as a community. 

Near the end of summer, we hope to have a community ceremony/fund raising even for the community.  We will look to the community for support in continuing our efforts to improve the park, as well as Fairview as whole.  With kind donations, we will be able to expand each year.  We hope you too will find this a worth while cause and join in our movement.
