Welcome to the Christian Academy Playspace Project

Welcome to the Christian Academy Playspace Project. If you notice that we call it a playspace and not a playground. Mr. and Mrs. Thoele attended a UPlay conference in New Orleans. KaBoom hosted the conference that walked you through all the aspects of the importance of play in a child's life to writing grants to securing a playspace. Mr. Thoele commented that he "went there with low expectations, thinking he was going there to learn how to write a grant. I came away excited. With the concept of a community build we can raise the funds and actually install a new playspace ourselves."
On the last day of the conference they went to a elementary school outside of New Orleans to buidt a playspace. Mr. Thoele stated "When we got to the site, the school's roof was still off the building. It had been damaged by a tornado a year and half earlier and the kids were meeting in modular classrooms. The only prep work that had been done was holes dug into the ground and the equipment was neatly set out for construction. We put the whole playspace together in 6 HOURS."
"People often ask 'where was God during hurricane Katrina?' He was there the day we built that playspace for those kids. The thank you(s) we received from the kids and parents was very satisfying" Continued Mr. Thoele.
