Project Overview
We will construct a state-of-the art playspace complete with swings, slides, and acrobatic climbers at our Walker Club Unit. After our "Build-Day" our kids will have a safe, positive outdoor space to play. Students at the Walker Unit will benefit from the physical, cognitive, and social advantages that are the results of active lifestyles and healthy play and recreation.
Our Mission:
Since 1936, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi has pursued our mission to be "the Positive Place for Kids" and has actively saught to enrich the lives of girls and boys whom other youth agencies failed to reach. Incorporated in 1955, and as a part of a nation-wide affiliation of local, autonomous Clubs, we help at-risk young people from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens.
Proposed Site
Free play, positive use of leisure time, and outdoor recreation are essential components to a healthy childhood. Our Walker Club Unit is located at 4355 Raymond Road one half mile south of Forest Hill High School. Our Walker Club site not ony lacks its own playground, but there is no playground with public access within a 2-mile radius of the location for the neighboring children to use.
