Martin Behrman Elementary Charter School

Description:
Most of the students at Behrman Charter were uprooted following Hurricane Katrina. In the re-organization of the schools in the Algiers Charter District, Behrman Charter became a pre-K through 8th grade school, educating students from all areas of New Orleans. Previously it had been pre-K through 6th.

Description:
CaliforniaVolunteers is building 10 playspaces over the state of California to commemorate Cesar Chavez. They are working very closely with communities to share the legacy of Cesar Chavez and how his story is still alive today. One of the sites for this amazing project is at Mayfair Head Start in San Jose, CA.

Description:
We are taking a vacant greenbelt in the subdivision and developing a playground for a very busy commuting community. We are planning to phase-in different equipment and activities over time and include other two vacant greenbelts in the subdivision. Long-term goals are to have a fun playground and develop a pathway that connects two greenbelts and conects with a future town pathways. The projects promotes healthy lifestyle in our growing community.

One of ten KaBOOM! playspaces being built on March 30 and 31st in cooperation with CaliforniaVolunteers, Youth Service California, and the communities. This particular project is in Mecca, CA an unincorporated town of 5,400 in Southeastern California.

In January 2006, PECO linemen Michael J. Killian, a Limerick, PA native and 18-year first-class aerial linemen, was killed while performing his job. Since that time, PECO has been looking for the appropriate way to honor Killian. PECO has partnered with KaBOOM! and the Boroughs of Collegeville and Trappe to create the Michael J.
