Thanks for stopping by, let me tell you about our soon-to-be playground.  We currently have a rectangle of blacktop 56' X 108' that you can see from the opening picture with some of the anxious students who are looking forward to the envisioned playground.  (They could not figure out how I got on the roof to take the picture) Our school was built in 1939 to accomodate the students with disabilities, including the contributor's daughter.  It is still used to provide learning experiences and therapy so students can find and develop their strengths and succeed.  The engraving over the entrance to the school is "LET NAUGHT BUT HAPPINESS AND CONTENTMENT DWELL WITHIN THESE PORTALS", in 2007 words "We want our school to be a place for students to feel welcome and be happy".  To make it more child friendly a playground was envisioned.  The students were thrilled to help decide what equipment would be installed for them. 

We are grateful for the generous contributions we have getting us to rougly 75% of our goal of $118,000.  That does sound like a lot, and is, but because a large percentage of our students use mobility devices and have special heath concerns the play equipment and surfacing required to make it "fun for all" adds up fast.  A bucket swing with safety harness that we need is over $400.  We think our students need to experience as much play as possible and are certainly worth it.  Our fundraising efforts are designed to involve the students, as they want to be useful and busy, helping to build their playground.
